We Welcome Two Deacons!

We are welcoming 2 more Deacons to Dearborn County beginning June 26th- Deacon Mark Schmidl and Deacon Kevin Daily along with Deacon Bob Decker, who has been in the County since 2014 at All Saints Parish.  The Deacons, especially our newly ordained Dcn. Kevin and Dcn. Mark will assist at all four parishes "in solidum."  Please include these holy men in your prayers as they serve throughout the county.

The role of a deacon will be explained from the pulpit and in upcoming bulletin articles.  However, in a practical way, our deacons will be:

~performing all baptisms outside of Mass.

~performing all weddings outside of Mass.

~performing all funerals outside of Mass.

~performing all funeral rosaries/wakes.

~Assisting with baptismal prep (visiting and blessing homes) and marriage prep.

Fr. Mahan and Fr. Meyer will cease doing baptisms, weddings and funerals outside the context of Holy Mass.  Since we have Deacons, their work, service and worship will be used and appreciated!

More Opportunities for Adoration Coming to Our Parishes

We now offer 12 Hours of Adoration after our Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday morning Masses each week. Adoration will begin immediately following Mass and continue until 9PM.

Tuesday Adorers Needed at St. Lawrence, 9am-9pm

Many openings are still available for folks to come and pray with our Lord in Adoration each Tuesday, 9am-9pm. Consider signing up with a friend or spouse ~ each hour slot needs to be filled by two people so invite someone to join you for your holy hour of prayer. You can sign up at: or call the parish office.

Bus Drivers Needed
St. Lawrence is in need of bus drivers for the upcoming school year. These bus drivers will be responsible for driving our 14 passenger activity buses to and from St. Lawrence. You should know:
• You do not need a special license (cdl).
• You will need to pass the background check and Safe Parish training.
• You will need to complete the online bus training.
• This is a paid position.
• The two locations are Dillsboro and Aurora.
Even if you can only do it a few days of the week, we need you! Please email Mr. Dennis at or call 812-537-3690.

Rectory Hospitality
The Parish Office is looking for a few individuals to help with getting the Rectory prepared for overnight guest(s). Although this is not a weekly or even monthly need, when a visiting priest, sister, or other guest is staying with us, hospitality is necessary. We have people that will keep it clean, but need help with changing sheets, leaving welcome letters, simple food and drink purchases, etc. If you would be willing to help, please contact the Parish Office at 812-537-3992.

Daily Mass Sacristans and Camera Operators
We are blessed with two daily Masses at St. Lawrence each week but with these blessings comes responsibility. First, we are looking for one or two daily Mass attendees to serve as Mass Sacristan. Sacristans are responsible for preparing the altar for Mass, laying out vestments, etc. and then putting everything away after Mass; training provided. Secondly, we need one or two camera operators to film the morning Masses. This ministry is a simple one to fulfill and training is provided. Currently, the office staff is fulfilling these duties; we welcome help from parishioners and daily Mass
attendees. Please contact the Parish Office if you can help.

Homebound Visits - Pax Christi ministry - If you or someone you know would like a layperson from our Pax Christi ministry to visit your home, please contact the Parish Office at 812-537-3992 or

Military Appreciation Project (MAP)
All four Dearborn County Catholic Parishes are starting a new ministry to help our military members feel connected and appreciated by their parish. These men and women leave their home and community and are stationed all over the map. Michaela Spangler, a parish member of All Saints and Senior at EC, is starting MAP Ministry to send care packages for birthdays and holidays to the active duty military of our parishes as part of her Gold Award for Girl Scouts. We want our active military men and women to know that their home parish has not forgotten them, and that we appreciate their sacrifice and dedication to our country. There are three components to get this new ministry opportunity off the ground:1. If you have a son or daughter who is currently serving in the military, we would like to know so that we can include them. Please send an email to We are also accepting monetary donations to go towards this project. All donations can be sent to the Parish Office. Please specify that the donation is for MAP.3. Michaela is getting this ministry off the ground but new volunteers will be needed to continue it once she goes away to college. Please pray about getting involved and email if you would like to help continue her efforts.

Fr. Meyer joined Marc Tuttle and Kent Blandford on Indy Catholic Radio for a look at the ever changing role of men in parish and family life in anticipation of the E6 Catholic Men's Conference. Here is a link to the podcast.
